Hello! I am Jennifer McMains. I will be starting my 20th year of teaching this coming school year, and my 19th with Roanoke City. I am a special education teacher. When I look back on my student teaching and first year teaching experience and the lack of mentorship (in a different district) caused tremounds struggles my first year of teaching. When I transferred to RCPS I found various mini mentors that all served a role in molding me into the teacher I am now. I hope that I can be that main liferaft for new teachers or new to the disttrict teachers, but also help them find the resources in building as needed.

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your post! That is so great that you have mini mentors now. I can't imagine not having a mentor when I started teaching. That must have been so difficult having to navigate so much on your own.
